Thor: The Dark World (2013)

Very meh. There were maybe two parts I enjoyed in this film – Chris Evans playing Loki and the brotherly bickering in the ship. Darcy is also always a fun part of these movies. It’s a lot darker (visually), very monochromatic far more so than a Marvel movie normally is and the story was blah. Tech, sets, costuming – epic as always though.

Loki (Tom Hiddleston) – the angry brother
Odin (Anthony Hopkins) – the mysterious dad
Frigga (Rene Russo) – the strong mom
Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) – the crazy scientist
Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) – the relatable intern
Heimdal (Idris Elba) – the guardian
Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) – the angry elf
Sif (Jaimie Alexander) – the awesome female warrior
Volstag (Ray Stevenson) – the funny male warrior
Fandral (Zachary Levi) – the other warrior
Hogun (Tadanobu Asano) – the other other warrior

Summary:

Overall, not a huge fan. I’ll watch the first Thor, but this one was rough for me. I wouldn’t recommend. Biggest thing to know from it is that the infinity stones are dangerous and Mjolnir has a new name – Mew Mew.

Stan Lee Cameo:
Lee appears as a mental ward patient who loans his shoe to Erik Selvig for a demonstration about “the Convergence” in his delusions. When Selvig finishes and asks if anyone has questions, Lee says, “Yeah, can I have my shoe back?”

After Credits:
Middle – Sif and Volstagg entrust the Aether to the Collector, unaware that he is planning to track down the remaining Infinity Stones.
End – While entertaining several colleagues in her London flat, Jane sees a portal open on her balcony and runs outside to find Thor, whom she happily embraces. Meanwhile, a flock of birds attempts to flee from the Jotunheim Beast.
